Person-Centered Expressive Arts with HeartMath: How to Bridge Differences in Unfriendly Territory 2020

Person-Centered Expressive Arts with HeartMath: How to Bridge Differences in Unfriendly Territory with Nina “Anin” Utigaard, MFT, REAT & Sandra Pettigrew, Certified Heartmath Coach
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart,” Helen Keller. “Keep your feet on the ground, but let your heart soar as high as it will. Refuse to be average or to surrender to the chill of your spiritual environment,” Arthur Helps.

These two quotes about the importance of our heart’s role in our lives is at the heart of what this workshop is all about. We live in a world and country where much division and misunderstanding is crippling our communities and creating violence, tension, anxiety, depression, and walls to change and collaboration – and ultimately it has created a barrier to Peace.

In this workshop, Anin Utigaard, MFT, REAT and Sandra Pettigrew, Certified HeartMath Coach, will provide some simple techniques and processes for attendees to have a first hand experience of how “HeartMath” and Expressive Arts Therapy can be combined to build compassion, a new understanding, connection and a bridge for areas of conflict and division.

Partly, didactic and partly experiential, this workshop will provide an exciting new tool that can be used with the creative process with your clients, with groups, and in various community environments. We will be utilizing the Person-Centered approach, and blending it with HearthMath and Expressive Arts Therapy (multi-modal arts process). In weaving together these three components, participants will see how it opens us to our true essence, allowing us to meet and connect with others on a whole new level.
